Mr. N tutorial class

Every Tuesday, we have a BCT tutorial class at 8pm. It is most class that make me feel uncomfortable because it started at 8am. (What a pity time ??) Every week, I hope Tuesday never come so soon you know. Our tutorial is Mr.N . He is a quite funny guy. He always give us a lot of "lame" joke and "lame" activities. But it still can consider professional and creative because we can much more easy to memorize the critical thinking syllabus.

Last two days, Mr N teach us about "mind-mapping". After he teach us based on theory, He guide us go to FCM ground floor and divided us into three groups. We had to choose a syllabus to do a mid-map in a paper. The enquirers of the mind-map are creative, attractive and innovative. I was in group no.2 and same group with pearlyn, Wei tzin and shu ting.

After a while, we already finish our mind-map and presented to all. When we already presented, that Mr.N asked 1 of member from each groups to hold the paper and stand in front of us. He want us to compare and see whose are the most suitable to use when we are doing our mind-map. All three groups' member support their own group and did not based on reality. The situation was uncontrollable since the crazy gang is there (hehe, Ms C and her gang)

After that, Mr N ask our group opinion and judge the winner. Since Madam Azhur teach us a lot of fallacy, such as ad hominen fallacy, ad populum fallacies and petitio principii fallacies, we must know how to apply it during our daily life , am I right ? I was using the "apple polish method" to band them, wakaka. I said, Since your group are so nice and your mind map is structurer, already good enought. But since ours is clearly than yours and much more attractive than you all, so I cant support your group and band my own creative group.

Wah, When their heard it, most of them stopped and flash back what fallacy that I was using. When I heard Ms C said that is ad populum appeal to vanity, I am sure she is a hardworking girl. Ad populum appeal to vanity is a kind or flattering words simply aren't relevant to the truth of an idea or validity of a position. It is also categorized as an Appeal to Emotion because it appeals how a person feels about herself than her ability to critically analyze a claim.Slide 27

Even my argument was quite strong because I could persuaded most of them. But we still losed the game at the end. The winner was Crazy gang (Ms C and his gang). Many people around us are always using this apple polish method to communicate with us in our daily life. We must analyze carefully, then you will know who is trying to persuade you.
